Pediatric Advanced Life Support
The PALS Update course is for participants that have a CURRENT PALS and BLS certification from the American Heart Association. PALS Certification cannot be expired. A current BLS for Healthcare Providers certification is also required for this course from the American Heart Association.
The Pediatric Advanced Life Support Program (PALS) was created in cooperation with the American Heart Association and the American Academy of Pediatrics, to assist the health care provider participant to recognize early signs of pediatric and infant distress and intervene to prevent respiratory and cardiopulmonary arrest. In addition, the course is designed to enhance cognitive and psychomotor skills needed to resuscitate and stabilize critically ill infants and children.
NCK Medical Center offers the PALS Update course in a blended learning format. Students must complete the online portion, followed by the hands-on skills session and mega code conducted at NCK Medical Center by an American Heart Association Training Center instructor.
