North Central Kansas Medical Center Employees Raise Record Funds for NCK Down Syndrome Society

Published March 24, 2025

Employees at North Central Kansas Medical Center (NCKMC) kicked off their annual fundraising effort this month in support of the North Central Kansas Down Syndrome Society (NCKDSS). Through a fun and spirited competition, hospital staff came together to raise $1,250 for the cause.

Each year, NCKMC selects four individuals to headline the hospital’s much-anticipated pie-in-the-face event. Employees purchase tickets and place them in a jar corresponding to the individual they would most like to see get pied. This year’s competition was especially fierce, culminating in a tie for first place between Tyler Deutscher, Rehabilitation Services Supervisor, and Della Strait, Director of Nursing. Both were given a well-earned pie to the face on Friday, March 21st.

“This year, due in part to many campaign shenanigans, our employees set a fundraising record for this event,” said Dave Garnas, NCKMC Administrator. “The Down Syndrome Society is an important organization in our community, and we are pleased to partner with them again this year.”

The funds raised will support NCKDSS in its mission to provide resources, advocacy, and community support for individuals with Down syndrome and their families. NCKMC is proud to contribute to such a meaningful cause and looks forward to continuing this tradition.
