North Central Kansas Medical Center to host annual Community Health Fair Oct. 10th

(September 2, 2026) — North Central Kansas Medical Center will host its annual Community Health Fair from 6 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 10, at the hospital, 155 W. College Drive. The event is open to the public and all laboratory screening tests require an appointment by calling 785-243-1234.

“Our annual Community Health Fair is a great opportunity for people to take a proactive approach to their health,” said Ali Slate, organizational development director at NCKMC. “We want to make these screenings accessible and affordable for our community, and this year we’re excited to make results even more convenient by providing them through the NCKMC Patient Portal.”

Participants should enter through the hospital’s lower-level entrance for the health fair. Payment must be made by cash, check or card, and insurance will not be billed.

This year’s health fair will feature the following screening tests:

 $50 — CBC, CMP, lipid profile and TSH

o A complete blood count (CBC) measures white blood cells, red blood cells, hemoglobin, hematocrit and platelets.

o A complete metabolic profile (CMP) provides information about kidney function, blood sugar, electrolytes, liver enzymes and other measures.

o A lipid profile measures cholesterol, triglycerides, HDL (good cholesterol) and LDL (bad cholesterol) and can help assess heart disease risk.

o TSH evaluates thyroid function.

 $25 — PSA (prostate-specific antigen) — Used as a screening tool for prostate cancer and other prostate diseases.

 $20 — Hemoglobin A1c — Measures blood glucose control over approximately a three month period and is commonly used in diabetes screening and management.

 $40 — Vitamin D level — Measures vitamin D, which plays a role in calcium regulation and healthy bones.

 $30 — Atrial fibrillation screening — An AF or A-fib cardiac recording performed to screen for atrial fibrillation. Individuals who already know they have atrial fibrillation, or have a pacemaker do not need this screening.

A new feature this year is that health fair results will be available through the NCKMC Patient Portal, giving participants convenient access to their results. Participants can also have their lab results mailed to them upon request.

Participants receiving laboratory testing must fast for 10 to 12 hours before their blood draw. Water and medications are allowed during the fasting period. Breakfast will be available by NCKMC volunteers following testing.

All appointments must be scheduled in advance. Community members interested in participating are encouraged to call 785-243-1234 to reserve an appointment.
