When Every Breath Counts
Breathing is often taken for granted until it becomes an effort to get air into and out of your lungs. Chronic respiratory disease and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) are illnesses that interfere with how the lungs work and make breathing difficult. Shortness of breath often limits what people with COPD can do. When ordinary activities like walking or climbing stairs become difficult, everyday life with COPD gets harder.
Pulmonary rehabilitation programs include patient education and training, physical reconditioning exercise, diet and psychosocial interventions. Slowing down conditions from becoming worse and helping you understand COPD and the steps to improve your life and health. Pulmonary rehabilitation at North Central Kansas Medical Center is tailored to meet the needs of each individual.
